Sharp Contrast Tells

For any country, directing national attention to young people to enhance their role within the society is a matter of vital importance as the stability and development of the society as well as the very rise and fall of the nation depends on the role of the young people, the society’s most dynamic and powerful group.

In due consideration of the issue, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution in December 1999 on observing August 12 as the “International Youth Day”.

However, the U.S. and the West are provoking severe criticism from the international society. Far from paying attention to young people, the U.S. and the West are only inciting immorality, pessimism and money-almighty principle among them and such a decadent trend is driving the young minds into the pitfalls of crime and corruption.

Numerous young people in the U.S. and the West are killing their own parents and other children, and women are often regarded as playthings by them, falling victim to sexual abuse. With gun-related crimes claiming so many lives, the decadent trend of violence and crime is constantly menacing people.

Moreover, the avowed criminal acts against the local residents perpetrated by aggressive military bases scattered across the world, coupled with their crimes of drug and human trafficking well transcending the boundaries of countries and regions, can also be termed inevitable results of wrong outlook on young people as the Western world are only treating them as a source of social distress.

If the situation of the capitalist society can be described in common language, capitalism should be termed an inferior society without any future as its young people who are supposed to shoulder the future of the country have become the epicentre of all crimes and social evils. Hence, it cannot be said otherwise than the U.S. and the West are now running headlong into destruction and termination.

Only when its young people are brought up sound and healthy, can the mightiness and good prospect of a country be ensured.

In our country, young people are being regarded as genuine successors of the revolution thanks to our Party’s policy of directing primary attention to them. They have become the pioneers of the times and creators of the new mettles of struggle, working attitude, noble traits and virtues, proactively giving impetus to the advance towards the prosperity of the country.

You can see them standing firm at the far-off front lines in defence of their dearest socialist fatherland and also at the forefront of the grand socialist construction. They have also set the trend of respecting veteran revolutionaries and caring for women and children, giving full play to the beautiful and wholesome custom of ours.

Not long ago, hundreds of thousands of young people signed up as volunteers for restoration of flood-affected northern areas of the country within a few days’ time. This fact alone suffices to show the validity and greatness of the policy developed by our Party and state of devoting everything unsparingly to the upbringing and educating of the youth.

Our young people are now living a worthwhile life of young socialist heroes and patriots in the care of the great leader, great Party and great country. As long as we have such an army of young people, our republic will forever display its might as a prosperous and invincible nation.
