Pak Kwang Su, chief of the digestive internal department at the Pyongyang Municipal Koryo Medicine Hospital, is a famous Koryo therapist.
Though in his thirties, he is proficient in treating digestive, gynecological and various other diseases. Since his days in Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences, he has exerted himself to acquire a profound knowledge of traditional Koryo therapies and skills like acupuncture and moxibustion, paying special attention to Koryo medicines.
However, when he came to know that medication alone does not reveal high efficacy in treatment, he buckled down to research into methods for combining medication with acupuncture, moxibustion or massage.
After a long hard work he discovered rational methods suited to different types of diseases and applied them to the treatment of patients.
The methods he discovered included a combination of medication with methods of adjusting the spinal column for digestive disorders, and a combination of medication with acupuncture and moxibustion for aftereffects of surgery.
The methods proved very efficacious. By applying these methods, he cured many patients who needed surgery.
In addition, he developed efficacious Koryo medicines and medical appliances, which have contributed to raising cure rate.
The treatment methods, medicines and medical appliances have been highly appreciated at several exhibitions of the public health sector.
