Everyone has his or her dreams and desires for happiness. But these are not realized in any social system.
Ri Chun Nam, chief engineer of the physical prospecting team in charge of the central region of the country under the Ministry of National Natural Resources Development, has been working on the same occupation for nearly 60 years.
He had been subjected to national humiliation and maltreatment merely because he was a Korean until he came to his motherland with his parents in 1960 aboard a repatriation ship.
The country provided his family with a home and all other necessities for life. Ri and his two younger siblings finished kindergarten and school courses free of charge as they were provided with new uniforms and bags, textbooks and other school things from the country.
After he graduated from middle school, Ri continued his study at the then higher prospecting school in the city of Sariwon as he hoped.
Afterwards, he started his career as a member of the physical prospecting team in charge of the central region of the country.
He travelled across the country in search of the valuable natural resources with a sense of gratitude to his motherland and a determination to exalt the brilliance of the country rich in natural resources by working hard.
Under the study-while-you-work system he studied at Kim Chaek University of Technology while working at the prospecting team.
He was always full of resolve to repay the daily-increasing benevolence of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the country for him with feats in his work.
With this resolve, he has been working on the same occupation faithfully. His wife and all children, too, worked on the same job as his. Even now he devotes himself to the prospecting work with his son and two daughters.
There is another example.
Kang Mi Son is a teacher at Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun University of Music and Dance. She says that the state discovered her artistic talent even though her parents failed to do. Thanks to the state’s meticulous care she enrolled at a university and grew up as a violin expert, an educator and a doctor with two excellent children, to the admiration of many.
It is natural that all the Korean people, grateful to their socialist country, should say that theirs is a truly people’s country which defends and brings all their dreams and ideals into bloom.
