Chairman Kim Jong Il (February 16, 1942-December 17, 2011) advanced slogans while guiding the Workers’ Party of Korea.
In May Juche 74 (1985) he set forth the slogan Let the whole Party go among the masses! at a meeting of the Secretariat of the WPK Central Committee.
Keeping to this slogan as his unshakeable faith, he embodied it into practice throughout his leadership over the Party.
Under the well-regulated system established by him, officials went deeper among the masses of the people to breathe the same air and consolidate the ties of kinship with them and the WPK advanced the revolution and construction victoriously by putting forward policies and lines the masses sympathized with and supported absolutely.
It was his noble lifelong ideal that all lines and policies should be formulated to meet the people’s demands and interests and everything should serve them.
He also set forth We serve the people! which inspired the whole Party and all its officials to become faithful servants of the people.
On New Year’s Day in Juche 79 (1990) he met with some officials and said to them that only an official who faithfully serves the people and enjoys their support and love can be called a true Party official and that Party officials should hold fast to the slogan We serve the people!
Conveying his lifelong exploits from one generation to the next, the slogans he advanced still demonstrate their vitality to the full.
