Over the past decade since it was opened in November 2014, the Yonphung Scientists Holiday Camp has been visited by many scientists and technicians who devoted themselves to the development of the country’s science, education and economy and the improvement of the people’s standard of living.
The holiday camp is closely associated with the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un . He visited the location several times to choose an ideal site for it. He provided energetic guidance for the construction project and named the holiday camp.
He clearly indicated the ways and methods for the whole course of the project ranging from designing to construction work to have the camp built at the highest level. Under his meticulous guidance the camp was built as a monumental structure in a little more than four months.
He also took measures to send the camp the equipment and fixtures as well as sports and cultural amusement facilities and vehicles that are needed for managing the holiday camp and providing the convenience for the guests.
He even gave instructions on the holiday schedule, saying that if scientists enjoyed themselves to their heart’s content while relieving themselves of the fatigue accumulated during their research work, he would have nothing else to wish for.
Thanks to his loving care scientists spend pleasant days at the camp. They play tennis, badminton and various other sports games in the multi-purpose outdoor playground.
Some take a shower bath and receive massage therapy in the indoor wading pool and others engage in heated discussion in the conference room while presenting scientific ideas they conceived during the camping and sharing opinions among themselves.
PhD. Kim Hui Jong, branch director of the thermal engineering institute of the State Academy of Sciences, said: “I have been to many countries, but I have never seen such a nice holiday camp as this which presents beautiful scenery and provides sufficient conditions for life and rest at the highest level. I’d like to come back in winter when the playground is used as a skating ground.”
