In the DPRK there are many families whose members work at the same occupation generation after generation.
Won Myong Jin, a worker at construction corps No. 1 of the Transmission Line Laying Station, grew up while hearing the feats of transmission line layers from his maternal grandfather and father who had worked long at the same station. When he graduated from a senior middle school, he volunteered to work at the station. He unhesitatingly undertook difficult and labour-consuming tasks like building electricity pylons through deep mountains.
For this merit he was honoured to participate as a delegate in a national event held in the presence of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un .
Kim Myong Chan at the same station is a labour innovator who was awarded his first Medal of Merit at the age of 19 for having performed feats as a transmission line layer, following in the footsteps of his father, a Hero.
Rim Kwi Song is a miner at the Ansim Pit of the Ryongdung Coal Mine. His grandfather and father were also coal miners.
When he returned home after military service a few years ago, he had several job offers. But he chose to be a coal miner, bearing in mind his father’s saying that it was a joy of life for him to dig out coal as much as possible. Now he is a labour innovator who is well versed in his work and always displays a high sense of responsibility and sincerity.
Meanwhile, the family of Kang Yong Su, a forest ranger at the Unsan County Forestry Management Station, has tended forests for three generations in the Pukjin Workers’ District, following in his father’s footsteps.
