Recently the dry field crop institute of the Academy of Agricultural Science has developed a high-yielding and oil-rich Peanut 16.
In general the oil content of peanuts amounts to 45 to 50%, which is more than twice as against beans. Their oil extraction yield reaches 30 to 40%, which is over three times higher than beans. Peanut oil is thick and emits unique scent. It is superior to other kinds of oil in health promotion and shelf life.
When it is planted in early May, the new species begins to bloom around June 25 and the fruits ripe between September 25 and 30.
The weight per 100 nuts is 80 grammes, and the growth period is about 135 days. It has strong resistance against diseases and falling.
It has been registered on the list of national sci-tech achievements.
