The Pyongyang International Football School located in Rungna Island, a picturesque place in Pyongyang, is a pedigree farm of reserve football players.

Established in May 2013 with ample conditions and environment for schoolchildren, the school admits those with good intellectual faculties and physical conditions selected from across the country and gives them education for primary, junior and senior courses by ages.

Students receive general education on the curriculums in the morning and football education in the afternoon.

At the outdoor and indoor training grounds furnished in the school compound students are preparing themselves as football talents through regular and scientific basic and physical trainings.

Teachers of the practical training department, former seed players of various sports clubs, are very ambitious to train their students to be excellent football players who will bring honour to the country and thus enhancing the quality of the practical education.

They are making detailed analysis of the latest information on sports science and technology and the matches of world-class football teams so as to cultivate the students’ abilities of psychological control and develop their scoring sensation through intelligent training.

They have developed effective and advanced teaching methods like that of guiding extracurricular practice suited to the students, movement speed measuring and real-time game analysis program, device for the player to judge circumstances and kick the ball, light-sensor speedometer, teaching and training aid program and player’s nutrition management program, and introduced them, thus putting the education on a scientific footing.

Thanks to their painstaking efforts to implement the intention of the Workers’ Party of Korea to train future football aces, the school students have so far achieved tangible successes.

They won gold medals in the AFC U-14 Girls’ Regional Championship 2016 for East Zone, the AFC U-14 Junior Festival 2016 for East Zone, the 6th “Lancy&Codion” Cup U-14 International Football Tournament in 2017 and other international and national tournaments.

This year they took the first place in group A of the league matches of the EAFF U-15 Women’s Championship 2024.

Coaches from the countries noted for football development visited the school and admired it, saying there is no other school like it in Asia and also rare to be seen around the world.

There were many graduates of the school among the football players who won the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Graduates of the school are active in several sports clubs with a promising future.
