Of late, Hong Kong judiciary brought 45 people to justice on attempted state subversion. The U.S. responded to it by announcing its new restrictions on issuing visa to the people concerned with Hong Kong government. China vehemently denounced it.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, in a regular press conference, condemned the announcement of the U.S. State Department as an interference in the internal affairs of China.

He said that the central government of China strongly supports Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for safeguarding the national security and punishing all actions threatening national security according to its law.

He stressed that the U.S. should fully respect China’s sovereignty and Hong Kong’s laws and comply with the principles of the international law and the fundamental rules of international relations, instead of interfering in Hong Kong issue by any means.

He warned that China will take strong counteraction if the U.S. imposes the visa restrictions upon those concerned with the government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
