The appearance of the DPRK’s countryside is distinctively changing. Perhaps, the country’s widest and most frequent media coverage throughout the year is on moving to new homes in rural areas.

Such news has been released all the year round, including that of the events at the Samgwang Stockbreeding Farm, North Phyongan Province, in February and the rural villages of the Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm in the country’s capital city and the Pobu Farm, Kaechon City, South Phyongan Province in March among others.

Those news reports amount to more than 130 between February and October this year.

Last year more than 25 800 new farmhouses were built in over 170 cities and counties. As of October this year, as many as 42 000 new houses were built in more than a hundred cities and counties.

Such being the case, the Korean people say that the Nature has four seasons, but moving to new houses in their rural communities has no season.

This is not all about the transformation in the rural villages. Cultured way of life has been established and scientific farming prevails across the countryside. Ordinary farmers are growing ambitious, with their vision of future changing.

The current era marked by the sweeping change has been made neither with the lapse of time nor because everything is abundant.

It is the precious result of both the ideal and intention and energetic guidance and devoted efforts of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who intends to bring earlier the cause of building a powerful socialist country through the comprehensive national prosperity and build a new country where the capital city changes together with local areas.

At the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea he put forward a rural revolution programme in the new era, and designated the Junghung Farm, Samjiyon City as the standard unit in the drive for rural prosperity while on several visits to it.

It is his earnest desire and willingness that rural transformation is a top-priority task to be fulfilled today, not tomorrow, even though the biggest obstacles are in its way, and that as the rural construction is a historic cause to realize the people's centuries-old desire and achieve the nation's comprehensive development, we don't have time to wait until the conditions get better.

Once he said: When new houses that sustain modern qualities and unique architectural beauty are to be built in rural areas year after year, epoch-making changes will concurrently take place in the living environment of agricultural workers and their ideological consciousness and state of civilization, as well as in the appearance of the country. Communist society will be ultimately built in the course of planning such long-term projects and executing them in a strict manner.

Always in his mind are farmers who toil away on windy fields. That’s why he has worked hard to bring happiness to the staunch and trustworthy agricultural workers who follow the Party with all sincerity before anybody else. His devoted efforts for them are really beyond description.

The day is not so far off when modern light-industry bases will be built in all rural areas and rural residents will lead a more cultured and abundant life, receiving medical service in modern hospitals, acquiring knowledge and enjoying a life of civilization at comprehensive cultural centres with the implementation of Regional Development 20×10 Policy which is now propelled forward.
