The Phyongsong Mushroom Farm has recently established a new, advantageous production process while increasing production.
“We found the reserve for more production in lowering cost and made a lot of achievements through innovative efforts,” Pang Yong Hak, senior engineer of the factory, said.
The technical team of the factory made research into elements of the raw materials for substrates for mushroom production and various methods to kill germs. In the course of this they developed a technology for sterilizing substrates with extracts from plants.
Thus, the factory has dismantled the substrate sterilizing process and produced different kinds of substrates with less cost. Previously, it used scores of tons of coal every year.
It also introduced the method of raising Pleurotus ostreatus by using the wastes from Pleurotus eryngii production.
According to the technicians, the waste materials are so rich in nutritive substances that they can be easily used for raising Pleurotus ostreatus .
The new method makes it possible to decrease by far the consumption of corncob and rice bran used for mushroom production.
In addition, the technicians established the Pleurotus ostreatus stock fungi culture based on sporulation so as to ensure steady increase in mushroom production.
