China announced its decision to impose sanctions on 13 U.S. munitions enterprises and 6 senior officials.
In this regard, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed that the Taiwan issue is the core of the core interests of China and continued as follows:
The U.S. recently made several announcements on arms sales to Taiwan of China.
Thus, it severely violated the principle of One China and the rules of China-U.S. 3 Joint Communiques, interfered in the internal affairs of China and infringed upon its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Independence of Taiwan” and peace in the Taiwan Strait are incompatible.
The U.S. persists in supporting Taiwan’s independence with arms, but such attempt cannot shake our firm resolve to oppose the “independence of Taiwan” and achieve national reunification. It will only end up pushing Taiwan to the dangerous brink of war.
The spokesperson urged the U.S. to strictly adhere to the One China principle and China-U.S. 3 Joint Communiques, deliver on its promise not to support the “independence of Taiwan” and immediately stop arming Taiwan.
The spokesperson concluded by strongly demanding the U.S. to refrain from giving tacit approval and support to the forces who are seeking “independence of Taiwan” by means of arms.
