Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- An art performance was given with splendour at the May Day Stadium in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, to see in the hopeful new year 2025, which will be a watershed for steady success and progress, after seeing out a year of great transformation when unprecedented progress was made to be specially recorded in the history of Korean-style socialist construction.

The venue for the performance was overflowing with deep emotion of spectators reviewing 2024, a year that witnessed another crucial and responsible journey for the revolution and the state development, in which such a great undertaking as comprehensive rejuvenation, unprecedented since the founding of the nation, was carried on by dint of the irresistible might peculiar to the Korean revolution, their great pride in the truth of our ideals and cause and confidence in new victory and new civilization to be brought about in the new year.

Prior to the performance, figure skaters and schoolchildren added to the festive atmosphere by presenting optimistic and beautiful rhythms to the tune of the all-people hymn "Dear Father" on the ice.

The national flag of the DPRK was hoisted.

All the audience paid high tribute to the sacred national flag reflecting the great history, eternal future and immortal glory of the country and its people.

Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, watched the performance.

When the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un appeared in the auditorium amid the playing of welcome music, the audience broke into stormy cheers.

They paid the highest glory and tribute to Kim Jong Un , the prominent leader of the revolution and the benevolent father who ushers in a new era of a powerful nation with high confidence, in which the people's dreams and ideals come true, steering the sacred cause for the prosperity and beautiful future of our great state along a road of brilliant progress.

Warmly acknowledging the enthusiastic cheers, Kim Jong Un extended his greeting of best wishes to all the beloved people across the country seeing in the New Year.

Among the audience were members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, members of the Political Bureau, other senior officials of the Party and the government, commanding officers of armed forces organs, labour innovators and persons of distinguished services invited to the new year celebrations, Pyongyangites, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and students of revolutionary schools.

Overseas compatriots staying in the socialist homeland saw the performance.

The performance was divided into two parts.

Part One, which began with instrumental music, song and dance "The People Offer Glory to the Party", touched the audience deeply with all-people hymns to the WPK and other colorful numbers.

Hearing the narrative poem "Only Our Party," which evoked strong memories of the great events in the year 2024 when the country made bold advance under the guidance of the great Party Central Committee which translates the long-cherished desires of the people into reality, producing legendary tales in the new era, with its most sacred ideas and noble spirit, the audience visualized in great joy the era of eye-opening transformations to be brought about by the far-reaching ideal and outstanding leadership of the motherly Party and the rosy future of the country that will endlessly prosper.

The song "We Are Koreans" excited the audience as it gave an intensely lyrical poetic description of the thoughts and feelings of all the people determined to firmly support the mightiness of socialist Korea with steadfast pioneering spirit and patriotic will, adding glory to their honour of having successfully defended their dignity while undauntedly covering the untrodden path of history.

When the emotion-charged countdown for seeing the old year out ended to signal the start of a new year at 00:00, January 1, 2025, celebration torch was kindled and fireworks let off to bring excitement and joy to the climax.

Children presented bouquets to Kim Jong Un and senior Party, government and military officials, wishing them a happy New Year.

The venue was overflowing with the great honour and happiness of the audience seeing in the New Year to be charged with confidence and optimism in the presence of their great leader and dear father.

Put on the stage of Part Two, which started with song and dance "Snow Is Falling on New Year's Day," were newly produced musical masterpieces truthfully reflecting our people's patriotic feelings which have grown stronger in the new era of a great powerful nation.

Greatly applauded by the audience were such songs as "Motherland and My Destiny", "My Powerful Motherland" and "I Will Love My Motherland Forever" singing of the highest tribute and glory to and firm pledge before the great and dignified DPRK which has always emerged victorious in the tempest of history.

The performance ended with the playing of the national anthem of the DPRK.

When the performance ended, loud cheers of "Hurrah!" for Kim Jong Un rocked the venue and fireworks were let off to gorgeously decorate the nocturnal sky.

The last night of the old year passed with precious recollection and pride of victors and the New Year to be filled with new hope and enthusiasm began. -0-
