The press spokesperson for the PRC Ministry of Commerce expressed strong discontent with and firm opposition to the U.S. investigation of semiconductor industry of China.
Denouncing the U.S. 301 investigation as unilateral and protective, the spokesperson exposed that the U.S. 301 tariff on China has already been judged as a violation of WTO rules by the Organization and is faced with opposition from many of the member states.
Originated from the intent to put pressure on China and seek its own political interests, the new 301 investigation of the US will not only destroy the global semiconductor industry and its supply chain but also harm the interests of the U.S. businesses and consumers.
This will only result in repeated misconduct, the spokesperson noted and stressed that China would keep close watch over the investigation process by the U.S. and take all necessary measures to safeguard its rights and interests.
