Last year every province made a remarkable progress in their effort to consolidate the material and technical foundations of the public health sector.
They encouraged preventive and curative institutions to extensively introduce advanced diagnosis and treatment methods so as to improve the quality of their medical service.
As a result, the rate of referring severe cases to upper-level hospitals dropped by far across the country, and the control system of emergency medical service has been further strengthened.
Kangwon Province supplied medical appliances needed for the introduction of advanced treatment methods on a preferential basis and provided vehicles to further raise the efficiency of the emergency medical service control system.
Consequently, the province is leading the country in introducing advanced treatment methods and making them prove effective in practice.
Meanwhile, South Hamgyong Province increased investment in the public health sector. Compared to other provinces, it has many medical institutions to be rebuilt or renovated. It, however, tries to raise the level of medical service step by step by setting a model institution and generalizing its experience throughout the province.
Jagang Province has recently built a medical oxygen factory and others. It directed much effort to modernizing Koryo medicine pharmaceutical factories while further strengthening the material and technical foundations of preventive and curative institutions.
It also kept abreast of the situation of the preventive and curative institutions and sent tens of ambulances to the provincial general hospital and maternity hospital.
