Students at Kim Il Sung University are successful in their scientific activities.
Last year they came first in the academic events involving dozens of universities across the country, including special subject contest (mathematics), multilingual contest of sci-tech university students, machine designing contest, electronic equipment designing, programming contest of IT-related university students.
In August last year they won the Codechef contest (starters), an international programming competition on the Internet, which brought together 40 000 applicants from more than 50 countries including China and India. They made successive wins at several contests that followed under the same name.
Choe Won Guk, a student at the chemical process engineering course of the Chemistry Faculty, contributed to the Iranian Polymer Journal his paper “Preparation and characterization of durable flame retardant cotton fabrics using phosphorylation reaction of cellulose with ammonium etidronate.” Papers by several other students were indexed by SCI journals.
Kim Sol Yon, a fifth-year student at the mechanical engineering course of the Mechanics Faculty, and Ju Kyong Sang, a fifth-year student at the forest science course of the Forest Science Faculty, won the student’s scientific research prize.
