From olden times Koreans have used Koryo medicine called samulthang , a decoction made of Rhizoma Rehmanniae , root of Paeonia lactiflora var , Cnidium officinale and Angelica sinensis , for the prevention and treatment of gynaecological diseases. According to old records, gynaecological diseases are all related with blood and samulthang is the first choice for the treatment of the diseases. And they suggest that samulthang is also used to treat poor ability to move the left part of the body, pale face caused by liver disorder, muscular atrophy and failing eyesight.
Even the countries advanced in traditional medicines have long used the decoction created by the Koreans and conducted researches to improve the form of its medicinal use and efficacy.
The decoction was later developed into the form of pill and granule, but they have such shortcomings as the lengthy use.
To address such shortcomings a research team at Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences has recently developed an injection with the same pharmacological effects of the decoction. Made of the four medicinal materials, it is highly effective for the treatment of gynaecological diseases and ischemia.
According to clinical test results, the injection has much more remarkable effect than samulhwan (pill) on symptoms of gynaecological diseases such as lethargy, lower abdominal pain, headache, cold hands and feet and loss of appetite. As it requires shorter period of treatment and shows no signs of indigestion, it is popular among users.
The injection is also in demand among men with stomach chill and ischemia for its strong haematic effect.
