The health tourism company under the Ministry of Public Health is riding high on its current tourism promotion campaign.
Whereas ordinary tourism is geared to helping tourists have an understanding of history, culture, nature, environment and economic development and enjoy leisure activities, health tourism focuses on satisfying health needs concerning medical treatment, prevention and health promotion in resorts famous for spa, climate and coastal scenery.
The company makes tourists consult with medical workers, take a medical examination and choose destinations for natural treatment suitable for their health, where they can receive natural and special treatment.
Therapeutic exercise matters in climatic resorts with high ozone concentration in the air.
The famous Talchon Hot Spring and Lake Sijung are favourite destinations where tourists receive hot water and mud treatment before enjoying massage, a special service supposed to be better than other kinds of kneading.
The rehabilitation parlour provides such services as therapeutic exercises and foot reflective therapy for the convenience of visitors.
Mun Su Bok, a company official, says the company plans to add dietary therapy, introduction of medical knowledge, mountaineering and recreational activities to itineraries in keeping with the revitalization of health tourism.
