At the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held at the end of last year, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the large-scale rehabilitation projects were carried out in the flood-stricken North Phyongan, Jagang and Ryanggang provinces, presenting new, transformed looks of cultured rural towns, and as a result, a new path for regional construction was opened up, the inexhaustible might of self-sustenance was demonstrated, and the people were tempered in the patriotic and practical struggle.
It is an inalienable principle of the Korean people to build a powerful socialist country by their own effort, not relying on others, and in their own way, not by copying others.
Six years ago, Kim Jong Un clarified that the WPK and the government of the Republic are steadfast in their resolve to open a new phase of prosperity and achieve the ideal and goal of building a powerful country by the independent efforts of the nation.
He added that the road of independence leads to prosperity and victory, and that nothing can reverse or stop the dynamic advance of our State and people that have an unshakable faith and resolve to pave their own way by themselves with confidence in their own strength.
The epoch-making changes and miracles on this land are no fortuitous event which resulted from the passage of the time.
It is the outcome of the devoted efforts of the Korean people armed with the idea of Kim Jong Un on struggling with the firm faith that the revolutionaries have nothing but their own strength to rely on.
In November last year, Kim Jong Un visited the flood-hit areas in Ojok-ri of Uiju County and Hadan-ri of the city of Sinuiju in North Phyongan Province. There he said with confidence: We have come to believe in our strength once again through the on-going huge rehabilitation campaign and I regard this as mental wealth more important than any other results.
