Some days ago, we visited Hyongsan-ri in Hyongjesan District that has been face-lifted into a modern and cultured village thanks to the Party.
The peculiar styles of single- and low-storied houses on the low hill of the ri seat were integrated with beautiful surroundings.
An official of the ri office we met said with pride that amid the struggle of carrying out the Party’s programme for rural revolution in the new era, dwelling houses for hundreds families have been built in a short span of time.
Leading us to the village, the official went on saying that the farmers are very eager in beautifying their dwelling houses with fragrant flowers and good species of trees.
Along the waysides, many trees such as Acer saccharinum, zelkoba and ginkgo trees lined, and in gardens of single-storied houses, there could be found different species of fruit trees.
Kim Myong Ok, a woman residing in the people’s neighborhood unit No.5, raised Pelargonium hortorum and other plants.
She said with a smile that after her retirement, she gave herself up to the pleasure of growing flowers in her new dwelling house.
The official told us that many families of the village were raising flowers and when the spring comes, they are transplanting those flowers in flower beds.
With the coming season of spring, they are greeting the new spring of socialist farm and rural rejuvenation by their sincere efforts.
Thanks to their mind to beautify the village, Hyongsan-ri would be full of fragrance of flowers with the song "We Have Planted Apple Trees on Mountains".
