Ri Hi Yong, Politburo member and secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and chairman of the Central Inspection Commission of the WPK, on a visit to Russia as head of the WPK delegation, met with Dmitri Anatoliyevich Medvedev, president of the United Russia Party, on February 26.
Ri Hi Yong courteously conveyed the warm greetings of Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, to Dmitri Anatoliyevich Medvedev, president of the United Russia Party.
Expressing his heartfelt thanks for it, Medvedev asked Ri Hi Yong to convey his sincere wishes that Comrade Kim Jong Un would achieve bigger success in his important work to lead the Party and the state.
Saying that he warmly welcomes the visit of a high-ranking delegation of the WPK to Moscow, he added that the revitalization of the relations between the ruling parties of the two countries would further enrich the bilateral relations between Russia and the DPRK developing wonderfully.
He noted that a new era was opened in the development of Russia-DPRK relations thanks to the positive role of the leaders of the two countries and that the treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership concluded last year was the one fully confirming with the international law and considering the changing reality.
Expressing thanks for the DPRK’s support to the Russian Federation, he stressed that all measures taken by the DPRK to defend its sovereignty and security are legitimate and just.
He expressed his will to steadily boost the close cooperation between the United Russia Party and the Workers’ Party of Korea and open a new chapter in the development of the bilateral relations by further expanding the many-sided exchange and contact with the current visit as a momentum.
Present on the occasion were Kim Song Nam, director of the International Department of the WPK Central Committee, Sin Hong Chol, DPRK ambassador to Russia, Vladimir Vladimirovich Yakushev, secretary of the General Council of the United Russia Party and first vice-chairman of the Russian Federation Council, Andrei Klimov, member of the Bureau of the Supreme Council of the United Russia Party and vice-chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council, and others.
