Fan dance is one of the typical folk dances of Korea.

The movements of turning the wrists and fans give the audience an impression that they are seeing full-blown flowers moving. And a blend of elegance and harmony in rhythms and the beauty of curved lines in movements evoke sweet and lyric emotions.
The dancers can hold a fan either in each of the hands or in one hand alone. They also can dance with a fan in one hand and a kerchief in the other.
As a valuable dance heritage item reflecting the beautiful and noble sentiment of the Korean people, the fan dance was remade to meet the modern tastes and is now among popular performing art works.
