Ryonggang County in Nampho is well known for a rich granite deposit.
In particular, the granite in the area where the Ryonggang Stone Dressing Plant is situated is famous for its low iron content and strong brightness.
The stone products of the plant have been widely used in building monumental edifices and public amenities, namely the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, Samjiyon Revolutionary Battle Site, May Day Stadium, Yangdok Hot Spring Resort, Ryomyong Street, Songhwa Street and Hwasong Street.
“Our plant was once a small granite mine, but it emerged as a leading dressing plant equipped with modern facilities in December 2023 under the national concern,” said Manager Jon Yong Gun.
Last year, the factory focused on making its employees accustomed to the new working environment.
Every day, it organized an hour-long technical training course with an emphasis put on lectures in front of machines. This greatly helped the employees have a better understanding of new facilities quickly.
The plant managed to remodel some advanced pieces of equipment in such a way as to enhance their operating rate further while preserving their original performance.
It also developed a new promising field to provide a guarantee for increased production.
At present, the factory is concentrating all its efforts on carrying out the increased production plan.
Every day tangible results are being registered in ore mining, while a variety of stone products for exterior and interior use in construction and decorative purposes are turned out in the dressing process.
The factory’s products are supplied to major construction sites.
