An event took place at the National Blood Centre under the Ministry of Public Health on June 17 to mark World Blood Donor Day.
It was attended by officials of the ministry and relevant fields, voluntary donors in Pyongyang and blood transfusion workers.
Choe Chol Ho, a department director of the ministry, took the floor.
He thanked the voluntary donors for contributing their blood to saving others’ lives and recovering their health and the transfusion workers for their effort to ensure safe process. Then he said that the World Health Organization set the theme for this year’s World Blood Donor Day as “Give blood, give hope: together we save lives!” He stressed that voluntary blood donation is for the benefit of society and the collective and very important in giving fuller play to the advantages of the country’s socialist public health system.
The participants watched a video titled blood transfusion service and safe blood donation and looked round the photos introducing blood donation.
That day some volunteers donated their blood as part of the event.
