A meeting of social organizations of Russia was held in the building of the Veterans' Union on the 12th on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation.
Present there were personages of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Korean War Veterans' Council, the Veterans' Union, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Academy of Sciences and different other units and members of the International Group for Solidarity with the DPRK.
Speeches were made at the meeting.
The Chairman of the Russian Association for Friendship and Cultural Cooperation with the DPRK said the Korean people, who greeted the day of liberation under the leadership of Comrade Kim Il Sung, have made an amazing development while overcoming all sorts of challenges and trials of history.
He noted that today, the Korean people have achieved miraculous successes in different fields under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, evoking admiration of the world people.
The Chairman of the Veterans' Union said August 15, 1945, is a historic day when the Korean people liberated the country by defeating the Japanese imperialists shoulder to shoulder with officers and men of the Red Army under the leadership of the great Comrade Kim Il Sung.
The Chief of a Section of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences said Russia and the DPRK is an intimate country with long friendly relations and the two countries made a common development through mutual collaboration and cooperation. The treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership signed by President Putin and President of the State Affairs Kim Jong Un last year is a powerful guarantee for strengthening and developing the Russia-DPRK relations onto a new stage, he stressed.
