Comrade Choe Son Hui, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), met with Comrade Li Qiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), at the Great Hall of the People on September 29.

Present there were the DPRK Minister of Foreign Affairs and her entourage, the DPRK Ambassador to China Comrade Ri Ryong Nam, officials of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs including Vice-Ministers Comrade Ma Zhaoxu and Comrade Sun Weidong, and other officials of relevant fields.

Comrade Choe Son Hui said that respected Comrade Kim Jong Un recently had a significant meeting and talks with General Secretary Comrade Xi Jinping and reached an agreement on revitalizing high-level visits between the two sides. She stressed that it is the invariable stand of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK to further develop the traditional DPRK-China relations of friendship and cooperation as required by the times.

She referred to the endeavors of the DPRK people who are making all efforts to successfully greet the Ninth Congress of the WPK after fully accomplishing all the undertakings planned for this year, the last year of implementing the five-year plan for national economic development.

She wished the Chinese people steady successes in their endeavors to push ahead with the cause of national prosperity in a comprehensive way under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with General Secretary Comrade Xi Jinping as its core.

Comrade Li Qiang said that General Secretary Comrade Xi Jinping and General Secretary Comrade Kim Jong Un recently had talks in Beijing and reached an important common understanding of the issues arising in further developing the traditional China-DPRK friendly and cooperative relations.

Noting that the China-DPRK friendly and cooperative relations have been further consolidated and developed thanks to the direct interest and strategic guidance of General Secretary Comrade Xi Jinping and General Secretary Comrade Kim Jong Un in recent years, he said it is the steadfast foreign policy of China to attach high importance to the China-DPRK friendship and always deal with and promote the development of China-DPRK relations from a strategic level and long-term point of view.

He expressed the willingness to positively promote the socialist cause by boosting contact, cooperation and strategic communication with the DPRK side and thus provide the peoples of the two countries with greater well-being.
