The Sixth National Sculpture and Craftwork Festival was held last September at the Pyongyang International House of Culture to celebrate the 77th founding anniversary of the DPRK.
Exhibited in the festival were more than 280 pieces of work created by professional sculptors and craftsmen, amateurs and students across the country.
Plastic sculpture The Masters of Future , metalwork The National Emblem and Flag of the DPRK , embroidery Flowers on the Shore of Lake Chon and others were deeply admired by the visitors for their high levels of ideological and artistic quality and depiction.
Such pieces as woodwork The Hwasong Area in Spring , metalwork New Looks of Songchon and glass painting Bumper Wheat Harvest give an artistic description of what is happening in the country where the people’s dreams and ideals come true.
The standouts were plasterwork Hearty Laughter Reverberating in Myongsasimni , shell painting Myongsasimni Hotel , grasswork New Spectacle on the East Coast and other works that deal with the Wonsan Kalma Coastal Tourist Area.
The works presented by amateurs added spice to the festival with their original ideas, remarkable skills and artistic features. Shellwork Good Harvest in Offshore Farming mesmerized viewers for its formative beauty and organic combination of ornamental and three-dimensional effects.
Children and students presented craftworks made with plastic, dried flowers, plasticine and seeds, which gave a glimpse into the rosy future of the children who are bringing their hopes and talents into full bloom in the embrace of the socialist system.
The festival, which brought together works of various and characteristic themes and forms depicting the stirring reality of the thriving country, showcased the latest development of the country’s ever-developing sculpture and craftwork.
