The Third Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security was held in Belarus on October 28 and 29.

Present there were high-level delegates from 48 countries and 7 international bodies including foreign ministers of the DPRK, Belarus, Russia, Hungary and Myanmar.

Choe Son Hui, foreign minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, delivered a speech at the opening session.

Choe Son Hui in her speech extended congratulations on the successful opening of the Third Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, and said that the current conference is a political gathering of great significance in building partnership among countries and nations in Eurasia and promoting the creation of a secure, fair and just multi-polar world.

She referred to the fact that the world’s biggest war machine called NATO incites an extreme anti-Russia confrontation hysteria and brings dark clouds of war over the entire Europe in the western part of Eurasia and the US-led tripartite military alliance of the US, Japan and the ROK has entered into a full-scale operation, seriously threatening the regional security environment in the eastern part of Eurasia.

Today the security of the world, to say nothing of Eurasia, is badly shaken to the core, she said, adding that it is attributable to the high-handed, arbitrary and double-dealing practices of the US and its followers as they openly launch military invasion, interference in others’ internal affairs and war schemes against sovereign states in an attempt to sustain their hegemonic unipolar world.

In recent years, various kinds of bilateral and multilateral war games against the DPRK have taken place simultaneously and uninterruptedly, and they give rise to unprecedented war crisis as they include a scenario of actual use of nuclear weapons, she said, adding: What is more serious is that NATO that is allegedly responsible for the security in the North Atlantic, has openly begun military intervention in the Korean peninsula and the rest of Asia Pacific, resulting in the second NATO starting to emerge in the Eastern hemisphere.

There is not a single country or nation that would willingly accept other’s pressure and domination and it is the independent right and shared desire of all sovereign states to build up their own strength and decide on their own course of development, she said, stressing that the DPRK will never stop even for one moment nor will it make the slightest concession on the road of bolstering-up self-defence capabilities for guaranteeing the dignity, prestige and right to development and security interest of the state, and achieving peace in the region and the rest of the world.

She said that the adoption of a joint statement reflecting the unanimous desire for and aspiration of mankind to independence, justice and peace is of profound significance in strengthening unity and collaboration among nations in the region and in safeguarding the peaceful and stable environment of the world.

The DPRK government will remain consistent in the stand to develop its good neighbourly and friendly relations with all countries of the world aspiring to justice and independence and fulfil its responsibility for building an equality-based multi-polar world and ensuring global peace and security, she said.

Meanwhile, she laid a wreath before the monument to the victorious patriotic war in Minsk.
