Songs imbued with love and affection for mothers are widely sung across the country in the run-up to Mother’s Day (November 16).
Among them is Thought of Mother written by Jon Tong U and composed by So Jong Gon.
The four-stanza song says in a simple yet truthful way that mother is so dear to anyone and that nothing in the world is as affectionate and ardent as the love of mother.
Mother gives birth to a child and takes care of him or her with much care and concern throughout his or her life.
As years go by, her face is covered with wrinkles and her hair turns gray. But she regards her devotion to her children as sheer happiness and pride.
She always tries to bring every joy and excitement to her children while burying sorrow and pains in her mind. The song says that this true love enables her children to follow the path of virtue through their lives.
It emphatically tells that maternal love is more than sheer affection and it is just the most beautiful and ennobling one that teaches them the value of their country, people and motherland.
Maternal love continues unabated both when their children are very young and when they have grown up and flown the coop. Mothers only wish their children success in their career and life.
Every line of the words is overflowing with the thoughtful affection of mothers who try to bring up their children to be genuine persons for the country’s eternal prosperity and with the children’s resolve to live up to their mothers’ desire.
