Education support program centres have been built in provinces and municipalities.
The centres will be involved in research and dissemination concerning educational information technology, performing functions such as developing software and collecting, classifying, storing and disseminating digitized data and programs. And they will also undertake the task of putting education in the relevant regions on an IT basis.
With the centres linked to the central education information centre online, the educational sector is now able to monitor and assess the overall educational situation of the country on a regular basis via the national education information system–from the Ministry of Education through the regional educational guidance bodies to the educational institutions at the grassroots level.
The centres are expected to support teaching and the management of human resources by keeping tabs on the academic performances of the students in the whole course of their learning ranging from kindergarten to primary and middle schools and university.
True to the Workers’ Party of Korea’s idea of attaching importance to education, dynamic efforts were made in Pyongyang Municipality, Kangwon Province, Nampho Municipality and all other regions to build education support program centres for the national education information system.
Pyongyang Municipality completed the construction work of its centre, while selecting competent teachers and researchers from different institutions to operate it and equipping it with hundreds of pieces of equipment like server and furniture in 20-odd kinds.
Other provinces and municipalities finished layouts and technical drawings of their centres and built them in less than two months by mobilizing strong construction forces.
At present, all the centres are working on the national education information system that connects online the educational guidance bodies and all the educational institutions in Pyongyang, provinces, cities and counties.
