In late July 2024, record downpour flooded many people out in some areas of the DPRK.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un issued a special order of the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea to rescue the thousands of flood victims in the city of Sinuiju and Uiju County of North Phyongan Province and oversaw the operations to airlift the residents at risk while staying in a disaster-stricken area all day long. Under his command, a helicopter unit of the Air Force of the Korean People’s Army evacuated over 4 200 people in a few hours.
It was at that time when he was reported on a critical situation of the Janghang-ri area of Kim Jong Suk County, Ryanggang Province, in which the locals were trapped in flood caused by days of heavy rains.
He called officials concerned to learn in detail about the flood damage in the afflicted area and the evacuation of the residents. Then he issued another special order to rescue all the victims safely.
Pilots of the helicopter unit of the KPA Air Force carried out several missions despite terrible weather and managed to evacuate all the victims.
Some days later, in early August, Kim Jong Un paid a congratulatory visit to the helicopter unit and highly praised the service personnel for their brilliant feats in rescuing the flood victims.
That day he said: The people are our God. We should care about the inconvenience of the flood victims who are at evacuation areas even at this moment when boiling heat still rages. We should make the whole country brim with the communist trait of one for all and all for one the harder the times are, and in particular, our army should show utmost filial devotion to the people as befit their sons and daughters.
