The proud history of the Korean revolution continues decade after decade and century after century. A story about two pistols was born at the dawn of the revolution.
The two pistols are one of the assets left by Kim Hyong Jik, an outstanding leader of the anti-Japanese national liberation movement of Korea in the 1920s to his son Kim Il Sung in the last days of his life.
One day in February 1928, Kang Pan Sok, mother of Comrade Kim Il Sung , said producing two pistols before him:
When your father passed away, he gave me two pistols and told me to give them to you at an appropriate time. Now that you have devoted yourself to the revolutionary struggle, I think you will need these pistols left by your father. With these pistols, you should achieve the cause of national liberation that your father had failed to achieve.
As he took over the pistols permeated with the warm patriotic soul and personal scent of his father, Comrade Kim Il Sung was firmly determined to defeat the Japanese imperialists through an armed struggle and achieve the independence of the country and freedom and liberation of the people at any cost.
With two pistols as an asset, he formed the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU), founded the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army on April 25, 1932 and led the hard-fought anti-Japanese armed struggle to victory, thus accomplishing the historic cause of national liberation on August 15, 1945.
The armed forces of the DPRK, which took their first step with the two pistols and have followed the road of victory, are now fully displaying their might as a powerful revolutionary army with modern means of attack and defence in guarding the country and building a prosperous country.
