April 26 is World Intellectual Property Day.
This year’s theme of the day is IP & Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate
IP rights and sports are closely related to each other.
From inspiring brands and designs to cutting-edge equipment, team identities, game-changing technologies and broadcasts of unforgettable sporting moments, IP rights power a dynamic sports development and culture.
This is unthinkable apart from the creators, inventors, and entrepreneurs whose passion and ideas drive the future of sports.
IP such as patents, designs, trademarks, and copyrights, inspires and connects people everywhere and incentivizes innovation and enables cross-industry connections with sport, sparking creativity, technological advancement and economic growth.
Amid the dynamic research and development of sports facilities and equipment, the DPRK is increasing the state investment in them.
Such domestic brands as Naegohyang, Tansang and Taesongsan dominate the locally produced equipment and uniforms, and they greatly inspire the athletes and amateurs to play better and work to bring glory to their country.
Researchers at the Academy of Sports Science and coaches at professional sports units are applying research findings and new means and methods of training suited to the constitutional qualities of the athletes to develop techniques for different sporting events, and sports educational institutions are exploring and introducing advanced teaching methods.
Fresh designs and symbols related to sports stand out at the annual industrial design exhibitions, providing impetus to the development of sports in the country.
Such successes result in an increasing number of gold medals won by athletes at domestic and international competitions every year, and contribute to making sports mass-based and part of everyday life.
