“If I am fortunate enough to have another chance to visit the DPRK, I’d like to go to the Hwasong Taedonggang Beer House first to have a cool drink again,” a Russian tourist told his friends after his DPRK tour in March. His remarks sparked great interest in the beer house that opened in the Hwasong area’s Rimhung Street in 2024.
The experience in drinking the world-famous Taedonggang Beer–at the house at that–will probably become a feather in the cap of overseas Koreans and foreigners who visited Pyongyang.
Taedonggang Beer, which has been already known around the world, is ever growing in popularity with the Hwasong Taedonggang Beer House boasting unique architectural style and warm hospitality.
Standing in front of the house are large models of a fizzing beer glass and two beer bottles beside it. At the sight of them from afar you will feel a surge of impulse to stop by to have a drink.
There are rows of wooden tables and chairs in the service hall on the first floor, and balconies on the second floor that overlook the first floor.
Almost every day the house welcomes many beer lovers including Pyongyang citizens, overseas Koreans and foreigners.
A middle-aged man from Central District said that as he drank in the Hwasong area that epitomizes the civilization of the capital city he felt relieved of fatigue and he enjoyed every minute there.
Kang Pong Suk, manageress of the house, said Taedonggang Beer is transported to the house as soon as it is brewed, adding that a growing number of people are visiting the house attracted by the beer’s unique taste, flavour and charm of freshness and coolness.
