Fuel and energy prices soar and food production and supply are unstable in many countries with the outbreak of Middle East conflict, a cause for worldwide concern.
President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development said recently that the conflict in the Middle East adversely affects agriculture and small-size farmers in different countries as global shipping and transport of fertilizers through major marine channels have been blocked.
Global fertilizer and food production and supply chain suffer a severe blow, giving rise to the domino effect in the relevant sectors, which, in turn, results in insecure food supply worldwide, he continued.
World Food Program (WFP) also expressed concern that consequences of the conflict in the region will plunge millions of population in Asia and Africa into food insecurity.
According to WFP, additional 45 million people worldwide are projected to face famine if the conflict continues into the second half of the year, creating the worst-ever food crisis.
WFP experts warned that the prolonged conflict will further aggravate the famine of the already suffering millions, affecting more and more people’s living.
