South Korean people from all walks of life have launched an action for preventing the passage of the draft amendment to the special law on the victims of forcible drafting by the Japanese imperialists in the national assembly, according to south Korean internet newspaper Tongil News.
On Dec 5, more than 70 civil society organizations held a press conference outside the building of the assembly where they accused the authorities of attempting to gloss over the issue of forced labor by the Japanese imperialists without an apology from the Japanese government.
The organizations in the press release condemned the speaker for carrying on the draft amendment to the special law. This is little short of ignoring the intention of the people, they said.
On the same day, a meeting took place outside the Japanese embassy in Seoul calling for the liquidation of the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past.
A declaration of conscientious persons in the world signed by 44 organizations in 12 countries and regions was read out at the meeting.
