A spokesman for the DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave a statement to media on the 2nd.

The statement said.

A spokesman for the US Department of State, in a press release issued on April 28th concerning a so-called "event" staged by the human rights organizations against the DPRK, branded the anti-epidemic measures of our state for protecting the lives and security from the pandemic as an "infringement of human rights". Worse still, he made a serious political provocation, defaming the dignity of our supreme leadership.

The DPRK Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the US provocation, branding it as an intensive expression of the US hostile policy to tarnish the image of our state and an open infringement upon our national sovereignty.

The alleged "human rights issue" talked about by the United States is a political plot to undermine our ideology and system.

The United States that has imposed immeasurable misfortunes and sufferings upon the Korean people with its persistent hostile policy unprecedented in history is not qualified to talk about the human rights.

The United States is the barren land of human rights and the worst failure of infectious-disease control where many people die almost every day due to social inequality and racial discrimination and more than 580,000 people died of COVID-19.

Over 40,000 Americans are killed by firing a year and all sorts of crimes committed. It is the "world of civilization" praised by the United States itself.

The United States must be investigated internationally for its gross violation of human rights and take full responsibility for it.

We had already made it clear that whatever insult upon the most sacred dignity of our supreme leadership, more valuable than our lives, will face strong counteraction.

The United States, however, insulted the dignity of our supreme leadership this time. It is a clear signal that it is preparing a showdown with the DPRK and definite answer to our attitude to be taken towards the new US regime.

Human rights are precisely the national rights to us.

Now that the United States openly revealed its attempt to destroy us with "tough containment", denying our ideology and system and abusing the "human rights" as means for interference in internal affairs and political weapon for overthrowing our system, we have no other choice but to take corresponding measures.

We warned the United States time and again that any provocation against us will lead to its disaster.

The United States will surely regret for its reckless act which disregarded our warning.
