Maltreatment of Children by the U.S. Being Professed as a “Beacon of Human Rights”

West Coast Exchange, North Korea Watcher Conference, Sept. 2026

It is a normal practice that people regard it as their noble duties to ensure the rights of children, calling them the “future” and “hope”.

However, in the United States, children are becoming the targets of all kinds of violence and the first victims of human rights violation.

A typical example is the case of maltreating a 2-year-old baby which has been exposed on September 7, much to the consternation of the international society.

According to the U.S. media including the “New York Post”, a man in his thirties living in Nebraska in U.S. committed an act of strangling a 2-year-old daughter of his girlfriend until it was in a swoon in December 2020.

What enraged people more is the fact that he strangled the baby repeatedly while watching it in suffering and went so far as to capture the proceedings of his crime by mobile phone.

Such brutal act beyond human imagination has become a commonplace in the U.S. society.

Child labor is also raised as an issue of serious concern in the U.S.

In the U.S. which professes itself to be the “beacon of human rights”, the children who are at their most mischievous age of frolicking in their mothers’ embraces, are now suffering from toilsome labor.

According to the statistics, the cases of employment of child workers reached 858 in 2019, and the number of minors working at the workplaces amounts to 544, where the labor safety is not guaranteed.

There are currently about 500,000 children engaged in farming in the U.S., and a good number of children, from the age of 8, work 72 hours per week and over 10 hours a day on the average.

This reality notwithstanding, the U.S. is finding faults with the “human rights” of other countries, as if it is the “exemplary state of human rights” and “human rights judge”.

The U.S. should realize that the more it gabbles on about “human rights”, the more it lays bare the actual conditions of its human rights violation before the world.
