Japan had better abandon fruitless attempt at overseas aggression

Date: 14/10/2021 | Source: Pyongyang Times | Read original version at source

Japan is bent on increasing its military expenditure.

It is scheming to import over 20 US-made reconnaissance drones for its Maritime Self-Defence Force and Coast Guard while persistently pressing on with the moves to possess an aircraft-carrier and introduce latest stealth fighters.

On October 3, a take-off and landing test of F-35B was conducted on the escort warship Izumo of the Maritime SDF which is being remodelled into an aircraft carrier.

This shows that Japan is stepping up preparations for a war of aggression in order to realize the ambition for overseas expansion at any cost.

The reconnaissance drones to be newly introduced are capable of conducting an aerial surveillance and espionage operation for up to 40 hours and of carrying missiles and bombs to be used as attack drones. They can also carry out anti-submarine mission.

The purpose of equipping not only the SDF but also the maritime police with such weaponry is too obvious.

Japan openly says that the introduction of reconnaissance drones is aimed at holding in check the DPRK and China.

And as to the public opinion at home and abroad that the operation of aircraft carriers and the introduction of stealth fighters run counter to Article 9 of the constitution and the principle of exclusive defence, Japan insists that such steps belong to the minimum scope of actions indispensable for containing China's naval advance.

However, this is none other than a cunning trick to justify its increase of military expenditure and cover up its ambition for reinvasion.

It has already been made public that Japan has pushed the extremely dangerous expansion of armaments on the pretext of coping with "threats from neighbouring countries".

When renewing its defence budget for 2022 to an all-time high, it insisted on the necessity of increasing the military expenditure while arguing about the "severity of surrounding security environment".

Recently, Japan is busy importing a large number of cutting-edge weapons from abroad and developing and introducing new attack military hardware.

It is going to build new missile and space operation units within the SDF and equip the units with sophisticated weaponry, while focusing on building various warships and remodelling fighters to bolster up its naval and air forces.

Such situation goes to prove that Japan's arms buildup is aimed at equipping itself with military hardware for preemptive attack and invasion, not with defensive means for coping with anyone's "threat".

Japan's dead-end attempt to realize its ambition for aggression and accuse others will boomerang on it.
