Double-Dealing Trick Won’t Work

Date: 02/12/2021 | Source: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EN) | Read original version at source

A few days ago, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China declared that the diplomatic relations between China and Lithuania are downgraded to the level of Chargé d' Affaires as the latter gave its approval to establish the “Taiwan Office in Lithuania”. It also denounced that the Lithuanian act this time is the infringement on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China and unwarranted interference in the Chinese internal affairs.

He also pointed out that what the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department expressed the support for the Lithuanian government clearly shows who does a wicked thing to manipulate “One China, One Taiwan” behind the scenes, noting Lithuania has come to the pass of today because it was traded on by a specific big power.

In the meantime, the Chinese media also disclosed the fact the Lithuanian act of openly interfering in the Taiwan issue is an attempt to curry favour with the U.S. The media then emphasized that other countries should not be subordinated to any big power and caught up in the meaningless confrontation, just proceeding from their own fundamental interests and international justice.

As already have been known, the U.S. President mentioned at November 16 China-U.S. video summit talk that the U.S. government, which is committing itself to implementing the long-term and consistent policy of One China, does not support the “Taiwan independence”. He also hoped that peace and stability would be ensured in the region of the Taiwan Straits.

But there does not appear any sign of respecting China’s stand vis-à-vis the Taiwan issue in the U.S. at the moment. What is found, on the contrary, is the perpetuation of the U.S. craft and cunning attempt to interfere in the Chinese internal affairs.

The U.S. administration officials are openly claiming that the U.S. will deal with the Taiwan issue according to “Taiwan Relations Act”, U.S. domestic law. On the other hand, they held the 2 nd “Partnership Dialogue for Economic Prosperity” with Taiwan not long ago. Like this, the U.S. is playing a double game behind the signboard of peace.

Recently, the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department expressed the stand in support of the approval to the establishment of the “Taiwan Office in Lithuania” by the Lithuanian government. This fact alone is good enough to guess that what lurks behind the serious development of the situation between China and Lithuania is a crooked hand of the U.S.

All the facts vividly show that the U.S. emphasis on safeguarding peace and stability of the region and in the rest of the world in the international arena is only a double-talk, a soft-soaping word to give credit on it, and is a sort of deceptive masque.

The U.S. should bear in mind that no matter how it uses magic to cover its true colours, it won’t work in the present world. The international society would need to further raise vigilance to the double-dealing trick by the U.S.
