On April 25, 1932, the first revolutionary armed forces of our people – Korean People’s Revolutionary Army was founded by the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung .

With the foundation of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army, our people could secure a military guarantee to defeat the gangster-like imperialist Japan professing itself as “Leader of Asia” and to accomplish the sacred cause of national liberation. From this time on, the history and tradition of invincibility of the Korean revolution commenced.

Enhanced dignity and prestige of our state, the invincibility and might of socialism of our own style – all of these are linked with this day of historic significance.

Today, our revolutionary army grew into the most powerful armed forces in the world which no one can disregard and by which any enemy is sure to be overawed.

Our armed forces have now been ushered in the heyday of development as they hold in high esteem the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , the symbol of our state and the representative of its great dignity, as the Supreme Commander of the armed forces of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

Building-up of national defense capabilities is a national priority of indispensable and vital significance, the importance of which cannot be underestimated by our Party, government and people even for a single moment, given the lessons learned from our national history of enforced misery of foreign invasion and from the peculiarities of Korean revolution of having to conduct socialist construction under the constant threat of the hostile forces that persisted through centuries.

He then further developed and enriched the military strategic and tactical ideology of our own style as befits the modern warfare and made the Korean People’s Army (KPA) - the pivotal force of the national defense capabilities - into powerful, elite revolutionary troops of invincibility.

It is Comrade Kim Jong Un , Supreme Commander of our revolutionary armed forces, who personally takes part in conferences for enhancing KPA combat effectiveness to give the participants valuable teachings or visits soldiers in the drill fields and in the trenches reeking of gunpowder to inspire them with matchless courage and grit.

The birth of powerful, ultra-modern weapons of our People’s Army is unthinkable apart from the devotion of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is living the days of dedication, paying little heed even to the danger to his personal safety.

Thanks to the energetic and dedicated leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who unhesitatingly forces his way through countless challenges and ordeals, and visits dangerous test-launch sites to defend the destiny of the country and people, the history of miraculous feats – the birth of WPK-style strategic weapon and its rapid development – was unfolded, and our KPA could secure the position of military and technological strength to decidedly contain the provocative threats of the hostile forces.

Our People’s Army is on high alert with full preparations to annihilate any forces outside our sacred territory, should they dare to provoke a military action that would threaten our national security.

As long as we have revolutionary armed forces imbued with the revolutionary ideas of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), boundlessly faithful to the country and people and equipped with powerful, ultra-modern arms which are the embodiment of strength and spirit of our people, no force of aggression would dare to intimidate our state, and our glorious fatherland, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will stay ever-strong and ever-prosperous.
