Agricultural workers and members of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea had a meeting at the hall of culture of the Mangyongdae Vegetable Farm in Mangyongdae District, Pyongyang, on August 12 to celebrate the 77th anniversary of Korea’s liberation.
It was attended by Hong Chol Jin, secretary of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, relevant officials, officials of the UAWK and agricultural workers.
At the meeting Han Jong Hyok, chairman of the UAWK Central Committee, made a report followed by speeches by O Kwang, chairman of the Pyongyang Municipal Committee of the UAWK, Kim Yong Bok, chairman of the management board of the Mangyongdae Vegetable Farm in Mangyongdae District, and Jang Yong Mi, worker at the Songsin Vegetable Farm in Sadong District.
The speakers stressed that August 15 when Kim Il Sung accomplished the historic cause of national liberation by leading the arduous anti-Japanese war to victory was a significant day that put an end to the history of national sufferings and brought about a radical turn in carving out the destiny of the country and the Korean people.
They noted that the revolutionary exploits of President Kim Il Sung, who ushered in a new era of Juche Korea and made a great contribution to the history of national liberation struggle of the Korean people and progressive mankind, would go down in the history of the country forever.
They stressed that they would glorify this year as a year of extensive farming and would become honourable victors in the struggle to bring about great changes in rural communities, true to the great programme for rural revolution set forth at the December 2021 Plenary Meeting of the Central Committee of the WPK.
