DPRK Premier Inspects Various Economic Sectors

Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and premier of the Cabinet, made a field survey of various sectors in North and South Phyongan provinces and Nampho City.
Inspecting farms in Pakchon, Yomju, Sonchon, Unjon, Sukchon and Onchon counties and Jongju City, the premier learned about the immediate farming situation.
He said that the officials of provincial, city and county agricultural guidance organs should organize the farm work in a responsible manner, mindful of the intention of the Party which set agriculture as one of this year's priority economic tasks, and intensify the technical guidance to raise the crop yield as much as possible by directing efforts to the cultivation of crops in second half of growth under the condition of persistent disastrous abnormal weather.
He stressed the need to conduct in various forms and methods the work for implanting in the mind of the agricultural workers consciousness of being the masters responsible for farming and the work for enhancing their zeal for production and to make foresighted preparations for harvesting and threshing and procurement of grain.
Going round tide-water control dykes in Mundok, Sukchon, Phyongwon, Jungsan and Onchon counties, the premier urged the cities and counties to push ahead with such land management as the reinforcement of anti-tidal dykes in a planned way, making the disastrous abnormal weather a fait accompli and to take the best measure to minimize the damage from downpour and tidal waves.
Inspecting the Sinuiju Chemical Fibre Mill and the December 5 Youth Mine, he took the steps to resolve the problems arising in establishing new production processes.
The field consultative meetings focused on the issue of enhancing the officials' responsibility and role to implement the decisions of the 5th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Party Central Committee, the issue of correctly implementing the Cabinet's decisions and instructions on the agricultural production and the issue of effectively coping with the disastrous abnormal weather and took relevant measures.
