Choe Pok Sun, a workteam leader of the Koryo Food-processing Factory who would attract the people as she was highly appreciated at several rounds of sci-tech festivals and exhibitions in the past, was awarded a doctorate in April.

Many people sincerely congratulated her as she became a PhD.

Born the fourth of five children, she lost her father in her childhood. But all of them grew up free from worries, learning to their heart’s content as they desired.

When she was about to finish middle school, her teacher and classmates expected that she would go to university as she was so speculative and inquiring that she studied harder than others.

However, she decided to learn while working and began to work at a foodstuff factory.

She so detested lagging behind other and was so assiduous in her job that she soon became fully versed in her work and always led others in carrying out her job assignments.

She always spent her leisure time reading books and studying hard, thus being called a diligent skilled worker and jewel of the factory.

She also paid close attention to the traditional bread baking methods of other countries.

In the course of it, she developed new bread products that are tasty and highly nutritious and was awarded several certificates of invention.

“I’ve never imagined that my product would earn a certificate of invention. It was an occasion that encouraged me further,” said Choe Pok Sun.

She soon enrolled on the online course of Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry to acquire advanced food processing technologies, methods and knowledge.

One day when she groped for a way to save raw and other materials needed for foodstuff production, she became aware that a large amount of crumbs of bread come out from bread production.

With painstaking thinking and research, she solved sci-tech problems arising in using the crumbs of bread again in the production of bread and established new fermenting and production processes.

Her research hit has now been introduced into many foodstuff factories and proves effective.

She also succeeded in establishing a snack bread production process which relies on locally available raw materials without using imported ones, contributing to normalized production of the factory.

“No love, no pains. The doctor’s medal is a state commendation to you for the untiring efforts you have made with selfless love for the children and country. I wish you would work harder for the beloved country,” Han Sok Man, manager of the factory, told Choe on the day when she received her PhD degree.
