In the speech delivered at the General Debate of the 77 th session of the UN General Assembly on September 21, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban Foreign Minister has denounced the U.S. for its cruel and unilateral economic, trade and financial blockade on Cuba that has lasted for over 60 years.
30 years have passed since the adoption of resolution against the anti-Cuba blockade of the U.S. at the UN General Assembly for the first time. But the U.S. still defies the unanimous demand of the international community. Its blockade has not only continued but also become much more serious, instead of being lifted, he censured.
Such expression of resentment is too natural.
The U.S. blockade on Cuba is in fact no less more than an economic war. What Cuba has suffered speaks volumes for it.
The damage of Cuba caused by 60-odd-year blockade of the U.S. totals a staggering astronomical figure of US$ 1 trillion and 326.432 billion.
The number of additional sanctions taken by Trump administration, advocating “maximum pressure” on Cuba, reaches more than 240. Into Biden administration, the U.S. became more vicious in its blockade on Cuba.
The U.S. administration has recently permitted the flight of the U.S. passenger planes to Cuba and resumed the consular affairs of its embassy in Cuba, hyping them as a step forward to give “benefit” to Cuban people. However, it is nothing more than a shallow trick to mislead the public opinion of the international community denouncing the U.S. extreme blockade on Cuba.
A former senior official of the U.S. lamented that Biden administration just follows in the steps of Trump administration in its draconian policy against Cuba.
A few days ago, the U.S. president Biden signed the document on extending the application of “Trading with the Enemy Act” by one more year. This proves that there is no change at all in the U.S. intention to strangle the Cuban revolution.
In this regard, Miguel Diaz-Canel, Cuban president expressed the firm will face up to the U.S. to the bitter end, making strong condemnation of the U.S. economic, trade and financial blockade on Cuba that has lasted for more than 60 years.
Delegates from numerous countries participating in the 77 th session of the UN General Assembly asserted that the unjust blockade on Cuba by the U.S. should be lifted at the earliest possible date. It is the reflection of unanimous voice of the world progressive people aspiring to justice.
The Korean people always extend full support and solidarity to the righteous struggle of the Cuba people who are fighting against the U.S. in its barbarous blockade on Cuba.
The U.S. should lend an ear to the reasonable demand of the international community and lift its anachronistic and inhumane blockade on Cuba as early as possible.
