Recently, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office issued statements in which they picked on our self-defensive military measures.
That the UK often makes issue with the exercise of legitimate right to self-defence do not hold any water.
The UK is talking about the UNSC’s “resolution of sanctions” on the DPRK. But we have never ever recognized such a resolution.
Moreover, the UK is a country which does not have any face or qualification to find fault with us.
It is already known to the world that in March 2021, the UK set it a national policy to increase the number of nuclear warheads from 180 to 260.
In September 2021, it flagrantly violated the NPT and deceived its allies to join “AUKUS”, the U.S.-led security partnership. Because of this, the UK is under criticism even today from its allies, let alone the international community.
It is also none other than the UK which is prompting high vigilance and backlash from the Asian countries as it has escalated the regional situation by sending many warships including aircraft carrier to the waters off the Pacific.
Now the international press and military experts are raising their voices of criticism. They say that the UK is rather making negative impacts on the system of nuclear disarmament and NPT although it widely advertises for the establishment of the “order based on international law”.
The UK, which is wantonly violating the international order and destroying without hesitation the stability of the world and the region, is trying to deny without any reason the exercise of our legitimate rights to self-defence. This is the height of impudence and double standard.
I am curious to know how the UK will respond if the hostile state’s large scale maritime force including nuclear carrier, Aegis destroyer and nuclear-powered submarine conducts a military exercise in the Strait of Dover.
If the UK continues to pick a quarrel with our self-defensive measures only, while keeping silent to the U.S. which intentionally aggravates the situation on the Korean peninsula, it will only betray its defect and result in shooting itself on the foot.
The saying goes “Better reflect upon oneself before instructing the other.”
The UK politicians would be well-advised to deeply reflect upon its own words and deeds and endeavour to set a good example to other countries in achieving regional peace and stability and in carrying out the obligations of the international law.
