A meeting was held at the Wonhwa Farm in Phyongwon County on March 30, calling on the agricultural workers across the country to effect fierce emulation drive for attaining the goal of grain production this year.
Present there were Ju Chol Gyu, Vice-Premier of the Cabinet and Chairman of the Agricultural Commission, Ri Tu Song, Department Director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Jang Ki Chol, Secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, officials concerned, officials of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea and farmers.
Read out at the meeting was an appeal sent by the Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea to the agricultural workers across the country.
The appeal said the rich harvest during the past hard-fought war was a fruition of such mass movements as the movement for wartime increased grain production, and continued.
When the intensive emulation drive is launched at all farms, the rural development will be promoted and victory be achieved in every field.
All the agricultural workers across the country should surely hit the goal of grain production this year and successfully attain the long-term objectives for agricultural development by launching a vigorous socialist emulation drive, keeping in mind the truth that rice is precisely the independent dignity and the strength for building a powerful country.
It is another important task for the agricultural workers at present to produce more vegetables, fruit, meat and eggs and increase the production of industrial crops in a planned way.
The Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea ardently calls on the entire agricultural workers to reap a bumper harvest this year, keeping deep in their hearts that the only way to be well-off is to follow the road of self-dependence and self-sufficiency for cultivating fruit of happiness in our land with our own strength and technology, the appeal added.
