A defence scientific research institution concerned tested an underwater strategic weapon system between April 4 and 7.
The nuclear unmanned underwater assault vessel "Haeil--2" involved in the test at the Kajin Port in Kumya County of South Hamgyong Province on the afternoon of April 4 cruised underwater along the oval and figure-of-eight course set in the East Sea of Korea simulating the distance of 1,000 kilometres for 71 hours and six minutes and reached the sea off the Ryongdae Port in Tanchon City of South Hamgyong Province, the targeted virtual waters, on the afternoon of April 7 and the trial warhead was correctly detonated underwater.
The test perfectly verified the reliability and fatal striking capability of the underwater strategic weapon system.
The strategic weapon system is essential for deterring all sorts of escalated military actions of the enemy, removing the threats and defending the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and will be a superior military potential of our future armed forces.
