The Korean Space Association greeted its eighth anniversary amid the ever-increasing international concern and enthusiasm for the development and use of the outer space, common wealth of mankind, and the accelerated activities of the state for attaining the high goal of space science and technology.

The association was established on April 30, Juche 105(2016) according to the independent space development policy of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Its mission is to promote the development of space science and technology of the country, make sci-tech cooperation and exchange with space-related bodies of different countries and international organizations on the principle of mutual replenishment and perfection and thus make a contribution to the peaceful development and use of the outer space.

In keeping with the demand of the present times when the outer space becomes closer to mankind as an indispensable realm of life, the association has rendered great services to the exercise of our state's legitimate and fair right to space development, the economic construction and the improvement of the people's living while actively studying and exchanging space science and technology and making cooperation at home and abroad in the past.

The association involving scientists, technicians, university teachers and researchers in the field of space science and technology holds more than two plenary meetings and consultative meetings every year according to its rules to review its work and discuss and decide on detailed plans for further accelerating the space development.

The association sponsored the symposium on space science and technology--2016 as part of its first work. It organizes sci-tech symposiums on a regular basis to heighten social interest in space science and technology and strengthen the technical exchange between its members.

Through the symposiums on space science and technology, papers on the development of practical and advanced artificial earth satellites and techniques of their operation and on the satellite space information analyzing technology are made public and the work is powerfully promoted to put them into practice, consolidating the successes made in the field of space science and technology.

The association pays due attention to the sci-tech exchange and cooperation with space-related international bodies and academic organizations of other countries in the field of the development and use of the outer space and takes part in international scientific symposiums and meetings concerning the outer space to activate sci-tech exchange and cooperation.

For the rapid development of the outer space, all members of the association concentrate efforts on the scientific researches for carrying out the advanced and valuable space development plans on a preferential basis in the strategic interests of the state and steadily expanding the successes to build a proud space industry.

In the future, too, the Korean Space Association will reliably guarantee the perfect and steadfast implementation of the space development plan of the state with science and technology.
