The Taehung Youth Hero Mine has recently succeeded in producing high-quality magnesia clinker with domestic fuel.
It established a new line of producing high-quality magnesia clinker with magnesite ore and anthracite coal briquette, thus putting the refractory industry of the country on a higher Juche-oriented basis.
When Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the then Taehung Youth Mine 14 years ago, he renamed it Taehung Youth Hero Mine as it successfully realized coke-free production of magnesia clinker and light-burned magnesia with domestic fuel.
The mine has since then made strenuous efforts to develop Korean-style techniques of producingvarious magnesia products.
It is acknowledged in the world that the qualitative indices of high-quality magnesia clinker can be ensured when heavy oil and natural gas are used as fuel.
Its officials and workers buckled down to developing a new technique with confidence and courage to complete a production line based on domestic fuel from A to Z.
They updated the structure of furnace and the raw material preparation line through second-stage processing of magnesite ore. In the course of this, they met with scores of failures, but finally succeeded in realizing the industrialization of new high-quality magnesia clinker with their own efforts and techniques.
As all the qualitative indices of its high-quality magnesia clinker meet with the world standard, the demand for it is on the steady increase.
Its introduction into several units in themetallurgical and cement industries has proved that the life span of steel furnaces and kilns has increased markedly as against the previous period.
